What is Synario?

Synario is a flexible financial modeling platform designed to produce dynamic multi-year financial projections to facilitate strategic planning. Users can customize logic and establish relationships among an unlimited number of  independent variables. Its patented architecture permits users to easily consider alternative portfolios of operating and  capital assumptions, and its browser-based functionality allows for distributed use and multi-dimensional reporting.

What is Modeling Intelligence?

Modeling Intelligence is a purpose-built, intuitive, infrastructure that allows you to easily model complex operational and capital-intense initiatives through dynamic permutation management tools.

Is the Synario projection logic flexible?

Entirely. Synario is architected to provide users flexibility in designing and building their financial and  organizational logic. However, unlike spreadsheets, Synario permits users to layer alternative versions of both  variables and formulae, and choose the version applicable to a given scenario. Spreadsheets are limited to one  data point or one formula per cell, requiring users to either save alternative assumption sets, save alternative  model versions, and/or utilize complicated formulae and functions to conduct sensitivity analysis.

How do I write a formula in Synario?

You can write an expression in Synario just as you would in Excel. In Synario, formulas can be written as combinations of Lets and Steps. Lets allow you to define variables to be used in your formula. Steps are where your formula goes into action. Any variables defined as Lets can be used in Steps.

Does Synario offer multi-dimensional reporting?

Yes. Synario permits users to develop alternative dimensions (e.g., total institution versus individual units/divisions;  classes of rate payers; unrestricted, temporarily restricted, and permanently restricted net assets) by which  projections can be pivoted. Spreadsheets cannot pivot time-series projection formulae, only data.

How does Synario's Financial Statements work?

Financial Statements in Synario are created by importing your business's historical financial data into our pre-mapped financial statements. Once the historical data is imported and organized, Synario can project all three of your financial statements into the future.

You can learn more about our financial statements here.

Can I create my own reports and charts?

Any line item in Synario can be added to a report or chart. Any report or chart can be leveraged to show multiple sets of results allowing them to be  dynamic. Any group of variables, projects, or scenarios can be changed or toggled on or off to recast the report or chart.

Can Synario support multiple users and/or distributed use?

Uniquely. Synario permits multiple users to work in the same model at the same time, enabling real-time collaboration. Spreadsheets require users to reconcile multiple versions of the same model.

Does Synario offer audit features?

Yes. Synario users can drill down on any given number to determine its underlying logic, assumptions and history  of changes. No spreadsheet offers this functionality and centralized point of view.

Does Synario have version control features?

Comprehensively. Synario keeps track of who is and has been using a model, what they changed, and when. This type of version control and maintenance features are not available in spreadsheets.

How is a scenario created?

Scenarios represent a bundle of assumptions that collectively produce a set of financial results. In Synario, scenario creation is how we get our name. Mix and match assumptions and fold in new projects in minutes rather than developing stand-alone Excel spreadsheets or complex nested IF statements.

How is Synario accessed?

Easily. Synario is a browser-accessible web application that is hosted in the cloud.

Where is the data stored?

Where it is needed. If cloud-based, the data is stored in the cloud. If locally hosted, the data is stored on the  institution’s server(s).

How much effort is required of IT to install and support Synario?

For (preferred) cloud-based hosting, IT has essentially no substantive role. For local hosting, the IT support is minimal.

How long does it take to implement Synario?

The amount of time needed to implement Synario is based primarily on your design complexity and data  availability. Typically, given the competing demands on your staff’s time, the process takes 90 days.

I'm looking for advice regarding my financial model.

Synario only offers agile financial modeling software and does not offer financial modeling advice.
